PTIC
About PTIC
The Public Transport Information Coordination Group (PTIC) is a community enterprise. Launched in November 2008, its purpose is to provide coordination on UK activities relating to the compilation and presentation of public transport information, whether to the public or for operational purposes. In practice its principal function is to provide industry oversight of national data standards and data sets, such as NaPTAN and TransXChange.
PTIC is not closed but in practice attendance is drawn from members of the partner groups (ATCO, RTIG and Traveline). PTIC operates wherever possible by unanimous consent, achieved by collective debate within a meeting or by correspondence.
From 1 April 2012, management of PTIC passed from RTIG to Traveline.
Standards and data updates
Standards, specifications and data services applicable to public transport include NaPTAN, TransXChange, SIRI, IFOPT, Transmodel, Journeyweb etc. Many of these are available via the DfT's standards web pages: click here.
The Traveline National Dataset is available at http://traveline.info/tnds.html.
